March Boutique of the Month-Vagabond Apparel

As you know…It’s quite obvious-I love to shop! I love to find local boutiques that offer unique items and excellent customer service.

I look for the things that I like to offer my clients both now (as a personal shopper and stylist) and when I managed stores in the past. I love a store and a team, that offers fabulous customer service, honesty, friendliness and genuine interest in my taste and lifestyle.

When I frequent a store it’s not just for the clothing and accessories - it’s the whole package I’m looking for! I want to feel confident when I recommend a store to a client or friend. And I feel pretty fortunate to have met Elizabeth LeGore (Owner) and the team (Sierra, Ashley and Kelsey) at Vagabond Apparel, North Palm Beach, FL. They certainly fit the bill!!

I first came across Vagabond Apparel while shopping at Doris’ Italian Market next door! And, now it’s a great excuse to run to the grocery store! ;)

I had the pleasure of chatting with Elizabeth about her store and wanted to share our conversation with you! I love Vagabond Apparel for all the reasons I love Florida. Life is laid back and simple. Vagabond extends that feeling into their collections -”laid back beach culture and simplistic street fashion.”

What brought you to retail? Have you always been a retail lady?

I have always loved clothing and fashion! From a young age I played dress up, dabbled in sewing my own clothes and was nominated best dressed in high school. I worked at a local surf shop in high school and continued to work in the retail industry until I opened Vagabond Apparel. I also studied Entrepreneurship in college and always knew I would have my own boutique! So Yes- always a retail lady! Retail for life!

What is a typical day like for the Vagabond team?

The team really takes ownership of the store! They are the masterminds behind our social media account, merchandising the store, processing shipment, being brand experts, styling our product and most importantly building relationships with our customers. 

What is one thing you think your customers should know about your store that they may not be aware of already? 

We are always looking for new brands for the store that our customers love and can’t find locally. Over the past 4.5yrs. our brand selection has changed immensely due to the feedback of our customers. We have brought in such brands as Spell & the Gypsy, Onzie, Frame Denim and more all from our customers recommendations.

I can always count on Vagabond for a great sundress or maxi!

What is the mission behind Vagabond?

Mission Statement: A clothing store that unites the free spirited and the adventurous soul.

Vision: Supplying simplistic, stylish, and surf inspired apparel in a warm, neighborly and refreshing environment that cultivates creative expression through fashion.

What are your favorite clothing lines-what do you mostly look for when shopping for your clients? 

My personal favorite brands right now are Spell & the Gypsy, Cleobella, Sundry and AG Denim. I am a classic denim and tee shirt girl but I love the easy to wear boho chic look too! When buying for my customers I actually think specifically of certain customers while purchasing styles, colors, and sizes! Not everything I purchase I would wear but I always think of which customer would love that piece.

I love that you carry an assortment of lines for the whole family, and so does my husband!)   Have those lines been with you since the start?  How did that evolve?

I opened the store with Women’s and Men’s selection. I wanted to offer our community an elevated men’s selection that still had a laid back surf vibe. I started carrying kids a year after opening because it was just so cute and then about 2 years ago, after my son was born, I expanded the selection! Stay tuned for a bigger kids selection as we expand our store next Fall!! 

What are some of the items you are most excited about going forward for Summer? 

All the vintage stripes and leopard print! 

Who (or what) most inspires you when it comes to fashion and what you choose to carry at Vagabond?

I’m inspired by the laid back beach culture and simplistic street fashion. I always focus on prints and fits that get me excited, I like taking risks with my product selection but always think of my customers and what I bring to them! What do they need or want? What’s new and exciting they can add to their wardrobe. 

What do you do for fun in your down time?

Hang out with my little man David, who just turned 2. We go to the beach, park and love doing crafts together! I love traveling!! We take a few vacations a year domestically and internationally! We love exploring new places and cultures! 

What are some of your must-haves? 

Shopping my fav tee-shirt wall.

Must Haves… AG Farrah Jeans, Sol Angeles V-Neck Tee and every Maxi dress from Spell and the Gypsy.
